PUMPING PIANO ANTHEM

This is the second single Hovelmann has released on 19BOX RECORDINGS. ‘Paradise’ is the follow-up to ‘In House We Trance’ and is a pumping piano anthem akin to early 1990s Italian house productions. Despite this, it’s not handbag house or rave-y. The whirling and driving timbres will surely have devas-tating effects on the dancefloor. Not content with just one Swedish mastermind, we have managed to call in another one of our favourite Scandinavians Bjorn Fogelberg on remix duties.

CUTTING EDGE ELECTRONICA

Hailing from Argentina, Julio Largente lays down four excellent ambient/chillout tracks for us on this EP. Fans of the label will already know him from already appearing on 19BOX RECORDINGS as a remixer and on PARK LIMITED MUZIK as a collaborator with DJ 19 using The Loony Tunes guise. First up is ‘Angel Holds’; which is a beautiful work of ambience that draws comparisons to the sounds Mike Oldfield during his ‘Tubular Bells’ and “The Exorcist” period. On remix duties of ‘Angel Holds’ is Dartek - a solo project of Mauricio Daniel Maranghello. Meanwhile, Julio has delivered several other tracks to round out this EP. They all lie within the realms of the deep and dark, whilst focusing on emotional melodies. While different to his usual style, the sounds are still definitely cutting edge electronica that gives you an idea of his wide ranging berth of musical capabilities and form.

Time flies when it comes to music. It has already been six years since Ambrozia released their last remix series, ‘COX EP Vol.3’; which featured remixes of tracks from their debut album “Velvet”. Since that time, they have gone on to release 2 albums, “Real 4 Life” & “Lifetime”. They are also known for delivering a cover of ‘Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)’ for a Burt Bacharach tribute album called, “Inner Reserves 2 – Meet Burt Bacharach”. 

Ambrozia is a Japanese Chillout outfit containing members DJ 19, Edison and Julianne. Their songs have been featured on many famous chillout and lounge compilations, such as “Real Ibiza”, “Café Ibiza” and “Café Nirvana”, amongst several others. This time sees them covering Chris Rea’s AOR/disco classic, ‘On The Beach’.  Instead of using their usual vocalist Julianne, they hired the talents of Lonnie Hirsch – who is an American singer living in Japan. His husky voice matched the original concept of the Ambrozia project, so it was only a natural choice for a single.

Continuing our recent love for all things Swedish, Claes Rosen has been assigned remix duties. Previously we roped him in to remix Genuine Fakes’ ‘Because Of You’ that came out on 19BOX RECORDINGS a while back.  Not content with just house music, Claes is also known as one-half of L-Wiz - a foray into the genre of dubstep with Ola Naslund.  Claes Rosen has long-since established himself as the “man of melodies” and never ceases to amaze us here at 19BOX Towers. He has remixed many well-known names over the years, including Stonebridge, Add 2 Basket and Dinka. Here Claes works his magic by taking the original and throwing a layer of breakbeat underneath.

Not content with just one Swedish mastermind, we have managed to call in another one of our favourite Scandinavians on remix duties. As a result of Hovelman having remixed Bjorn Fogelberg’s ‘Before + After’, Mr. Fogelberg has returned the favour by housing-up the original.  Bjorn is a man of many talents – music producer, web designer, indie game developer and the former label owner of XAKK RECORDS – which released his own productions.  He has released tracks on SYSTEM RECORDINGS , SICK WATONA and of course his very own XAKK RECORDS.

First up is ‘Angel Holds’; which is a beautiful work of ambience that draws comparisons to the sounds Mike Oldfield during his ‘Tubular Bells’ and “The Exorcist” period. On remix duties of ‘Angel Holds’ is Dartek - a solo project of Mauricio Daniel Maranghello. He was born in 1978 in Neuquén in the heart of the Argentinean Patagonia region. His style has a complex and hypnotic blend of sounds that keep the groove as a focal-point. His work has gained attention and praise from the likes of John Digweed, Chris Fortier, Hernan Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa, Hyper and many others. His remix is different to his usual fare, but no less effective.

Meanwhile, Julio has delivered several other tracks to round out this E.P. They all lie within the realms of the deep and dark, whilst focusing on emotional melodies. Previous tracks like ‘Darkened Underpass’ have been included on Nick Warren's “Balance 018” DJ compilation album. While different to his usual style, the sounds are still definitely cutting edge electronica that gives you an idea of his wide ranging berth of musical capabilities and form.
